7 Summer Events You Can’t Miss

Hand-picked for our guests — just like every property in our portfolio — these seven summer events (+ a hidden one) are the Algarve’s bijoux for the season.

Lota Cool Market

From riverside markets where chefs serve fresh takes on sardine toast to hidden jazz nights under umbrella pines and a former fish market glowing with World Press Photo winners, each gathering is as real as it gets. No generic beach-bar lineups here.

Welcome to your insider shortlist 🙂

Lota Cool Market

July 16 — 20 | Zona Ribeirinha, Portimão

At dusk, this nocturnal bazaar transforms the Arade waterfront into a low-light laboratory of design, craft, and food. Djs bring their warm grooves while chefs twist tradition into dishes, such as smoky octopus crostini or kimchi-stuffed bifanas.

Market Pro Tip: On the last night (July 20), linger a little longer. The Antiga Lota doors swing open at 18:00 for the World Press Photo Exhibition’s opening night—perfect timing to visit the year’s best visual storytelling.

Lagoa Jazz Fest

July 18 — 20, Parque Municipal do Sítio das Fontes | Estômbar

Three open-air evenings of jazz set in an idyllic 18-hectare green space on the left bank of the Arade River — complete with a restored watermill house and natural amphitheatre. Concerts run nightly from around 18:30 to past 23:00, offering relaxed and expertly curated performances.

Local Tip: For a quieter experience, aim to settle on the grassy bank just above the main seating area by the amphitheatre. This elevated spot, shaded by native trees, tends to fill up later than the front rows, offering clearer sightlines and natural acoustics without the crowds.

World Press Photo

World Press Photo Exhibition 2025

July 20 — August 10, Antiga Lota de Portimão | Portimão

Portugal is again the first stop on the global tour of the 68th World Press Photo Exhibition. Inside the former fish market, 42 prize-winning images confront everything from conflict and climate change to portraiture and identity, each composed with journalistic rigor. Open nightly from 18:00 to midnight, entry is free.

Opening Night Exclusive: On July 20, one of the winning photographers and the mayor of Portimão will cut the ribbon to officially open the exhibition.

Additionally, each Saturday evening, a prize-winning photojournalist will be flown in to host an informal conversa—a relaxed public talk held in both Portuguese and English, offering rare behind-the-lens insights from the photographers themselves.

Noitada Portimão

July 25 – 26 | Historic Center, Portimão

The first edition was unforgettable, and this year, they’re raising the stakes. Back for its second round, Noitada Portimão 2025 is gearing up to outdo itself with two nights of full-blown art, light, culture, and music. For one weekend only, Portimão’s historic streets turn into an open-air festival with live concerts, international performers, a laser show, video mapping, silent disco zones, and a few surprises no one’s putting on the poster (yet).

Stay in Portimão a little longer: On Sunday, July 27, Melchior Sessions presents an intimate live concert with Acácio Barbosa — a master of the Portuguese guitar — at Galeria Meinke Flesseman.

Fun fact: The event takes place in Casa Melchior’s building — a very unique house in our portfolio.

Seu Jorge Concert

August 12, 10:30 PM, BLISS | Vilamoura

It’s not every summer that one of Brazil’s most iconic voices lands in the Algarve. On August 12, Seu Jorge brings his velvet baritone and laid-back charisma to BLISS — the open-air club in Vilamoura, where pine trees meet VIP lounges hum with champagne chatter. This isn’t a concert. It’s a vibe.

BOAZ Tip: Don’t bother trying to park next to the venue, take a taxi instead. Wear something light, and let the evening unfold with ease.

FATACIL Fair

August 22–31 | Lagoa

Part country fair, part cultural festival.

By day, FATACIL is where the Algarve shows its roots. Children gather to watch the animals up close, while artisans carve, weave, and forge in the open air. These are the real souvenirs: cork, leather, and copper. Come evening, the mood shifts: concerts take over, wine flows, and the whole fairground starts to feel like a village festa.

Skip the Main Entrances: Arrive around 5 PM, enter through the north gate, and take your time. It’s the best way to avoid the evening rush and explore the grounds while it’s still light.

Noite Branca

Noite Branca (White Night)

August 30 | Loulé

Once every two years, Loulé turns white. Streets fill with light installations, contemporary art, open-air performances, and a crowd dressed in every shade of white linen. From brass bands to pop-up dance floors, it’s part celebration, part surreal dream sequence, spread across the town’s old streets and squares.

Before You Go: Don’t stress over a full white outfit. A linen shirt, a scarf, or a bold detail is enough to blend in. It’s not about rules — it’s about joining the mood.

Renting a beautiful villa? We’ve got that covered. What happens after you unpack? That’s where this list comes in. Consider it your inside line to the Algarve’s best summer moments.
